Why Should I Give?
The proclamation of the Gospel is an enormous privilege which we as a Christian Union share, but unfortunately it does require money. At present we are only partly affiliated with the SU and so our financial support comes from the generous donations of ex-members and from students within the CU.
2 Corinthians 9 says, 'You should each give then as you have decided not with regret or out of a sense of duty for God loves the one who gives gladly.'
Acts 4 vv 32, 34 says, 'The group of believers was one in mind and heart. None of them said that any of their belonging were their own, but they shared with one another everything they had ... There was no one in the group who was in need.'
It is important when considering our charitable giving that we pray for wisdom and discernment regarding to whom and how much we should give. We want our giving to be well directed, used most effectively for the proclamation of the Gospel and building of Christ's people.
We understand that many students may feel unable to give financially, and this does not preclude you from giving to the CU by your time. We are enourmously grateful for any gifts we receive, however small. Even a gift of £2 each month can pay for 2 speakers each year.
How Can I Give?
You can give of your time to the Christian Union by: praying for other members in the CU; by helping set up the room each week before CU; by helping at events throughout the year; by helping put up posters for CU and the events we run; by helping to give out flyers when we have an event coming up; by being involved in the questionnaires that we run on campus; and in many other ways.
You can give of your money to the Christian Union as a one-off gift, or as part of your regular giving. If you would like to give, make cheques payable to KCLSU and post them to KCLCU @ Guys, 106 Annmoss Way, Londond, SE16 2TJ, or email our treasurer for more details.
How Will You Use The Money?
- We spend money on producing publicity for events and the main meetings, in order to encourage people to come so that they might hear the gospel.
- Each event we run involves varoius costs. Different events vary in their cost. Some of the costs are: room bookings, speakers, gospels & books to give away and food.
- We run 2 weekends away each year and try to subsidise places so that students who are unable to afford the cost of the weekend can still join us.
-
We have to pay a licence fee in order to reproduce lyrics and music at our meetings.
